With the New Year holidays approaching, many people are faced with a choice: buy a real or artificial Christmas tree.
For some Americans, nothing beats a real Christmas tree, according to a new YouGov poll. About two-fifths (39%) of American adults said they would rather buy fresh wood. Slightly more adults (45%) prefer reusable artificial trees, which are also considered safer for the environment and more accessible to more Americans than real trees. Artificial trees especially benefited from accessibility (60 percent compared to 21 percent who said real trees were more affordable).
Women (52%) are more likely than men (38%) to want an artificial Christmas tree. Younger men are more likely to want a real Christmas tree, and men switch to reusable Christmas trees around the age of 50. Men in their 30s are the most active age group to buy real Christmas trees.
Americans have different opinions on real and artificial Christmas trees. Some prefer the real trees because of their fresh scent and natural look, while others prefer the artificial trees because they are easier to maintain and can be reused year after year. Ultimately, it is up to personal preference.
